A heartfelt welcome to your Spiritual Journey
'The Spirit within will lead you fare beyond the unexpected.'
The path to your heart
The path that leads to your heart is a special journey of discovery. A journey that allows you to look at life and the people around you in a meaningful and different way. What’s beautiful about it is that this journey is unique and personal for everyone. Yet I recognize the same pattern in many people: there’s always been a moment of awareness, an insight that set the door slightly ajar. It’s an intimate process of deepening, inspiration, and recognition where the voice that speaks from your heart takes center stage. That inner voice becomes increasingly clear, and the calling to do something with it grows. It’s wonderful to see how many people in the Netherlands and Belgium are giving shape to this together. This movement extends across all regions and manifests in many disciplines. With great dedication and joy, I travel throughout the country to teach the craft of mediumship.
Before you begin a training or course
Developing mediumship requires an intensive learning journey – regardless of the supernatural talent to connect and attune with energy and the spiritual world. This isn’t so much about the number of course sessions attended, but about the process of insight in dialogue with the spiritual world. I often see people enthusiastically diving into all kinds of courses only to get stuck halfway through. Doing more doesn’t necessarily yield more results. The so-called workshop-hopping carries a great risk of undermining the medium’s power.
The spiritual world needs rest and regularity for the necessary inspiration to truly take root with the medium. There’s certainly a responsibility on the part of the trainer as well. I dare to say that spiritual development leads to a deeper need to do less.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Where are you now?
- Where do you want to go?
- What are your obstacles?
- What is the next step?
Try to gain insight into the above questions before focusing on training. For meditation courses and practice groups, this is different given the focus on connection and awareness. Do you want to structurally develop mediumistic skills? Enter into a research phase with yourself where you observe on all levels (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) what the next step will be.
Safety and quality first! The spiritual movement in the Netherlands and Belgium is thriving and there’s an enormous amount of training happening. I too contribute my part to training mediums, with the safety and wellbeing of people as the top priority. In all trainings and courses, extensive attention is paid to both building up and winding down power and attunement. Ultimately, mediumship has a place in existence, but this stands in perspective of daily life and the soul’s journey. In my opinion, a trainer is able to transcend their own process and guide others above the material. Research thoroughly into whose hands you entrust your development.
Note well: more training doesn’t necessarily yield more results. An excessive urge to want to do everything brings the risk of later derailment with, for example, social dissonance as a consequence. Examine everything and retain what is good.
Three phases of spiritual development
Discovery phase: Embracing your sensitivity
People who become aware of their spiritual journey will inevitably want to give voice to a side of themselves that may have been underexposed for years – or even suppressed under certain circumstances. The euphoric feeling of your worthiness finally gets to have a place in this world. Wonderful! But what now? In the discovery phase, your sensitivity often increases because you finally make space for it. This leads to a deeper connection of a soul that, like a child in a candy store, begins to discover what there is to experience.
You begin a journey of discovery with, for example:
- Meditation courses
- Intuitive development
- Practice groups
It’s a fantastic phase where you discover what appeals to you and what resonates. Your sensitivity flourishes and you feel all kinds of things within yourself and others, leading to active observations. The feeling of coming home – when this feeling finally gets a place in your life – touches you deeply. It’s there and it’s allowed to be there! Step by step, you also get to know the community and discover what you can or cannot identify with.
Deepening phase: From repetition to growth
At some point, you feel that the process is falling into repetition. This new calling asks for a deeper connection with who you are and what you come to bring spiritually. I often hear from people: “I’m ready to go further.” For some, this is a deeper awareness that lives in the background; for others, it comes in a more concrete form. It helps if you know where you want to go, but reality is often more nuanced. Your natural ability to perceive – whether through feeling, seeing, or knowing – will grow if you give it attention. Without focus, this can go in all directions. At the same time, it’s difficult to give one part of your mediumistic ability more priority than other parts. The question of who you are in your mediumship plays an important role here. Take the time to give shape to this and thoroughly investigate any sticking points.
Within my programs, we pay great care and attention to:
- Your spiritual path – Discovering and shaping your unique way
- Growing in your power – Developing and strengthening your mediumistic gifts
- Dealing with obstacles – Recognizing and overcoming what holds you back
An important note: Spiritual development brings forward a side of you that your environment may not have seen before. This can be confronting and with some determination lead to social tension. Keep in mind that you cannot expect or demand from your environment that they walk the path together with you. Also ask yourself whether their souls have this need in this life. Take good care of yourself and acknowledge yourself, but certainly also others in their role in your life.
The process is central. It’s difficult to capture a process of spiritual awareness in time. From the spiritual world, it’s not the destination but the process itself that’s central. You can count on numerous people and experiences being brought to your path that somehow contribute to your awareness process and insights. Investigate it and retain what is good. Experience has shown that the deepening phase also contains a persistent part: processing, letting go, and healing old pieces. It’s part of a very personal process in which you never stand alone. Spiritually speaking, it’s necessary to let yourself grow further into the enlightened version of yourself. This doesn’t always make it easy, but it does provide a meaningful perspective for a future in which you may and can ultimately be yourself.
Implementation phase: Putting your gift to service
After discovering and deepening your true power and mediumistic talent, and liberating your old ‘self’, an emptiness arises. This can only be filled from a deeper need to pass on ‘something’.
Does this mean you’re finished with old pieces in your personal life? No. But you are now developed enough that when performing your work as a medium, you’re able to rise above the process. The people you serve touch you, but no longer knock you over. It remains difficult to quantify this. There will be dozens of consultations and demonstrations that you easily leave behind, and then there’s that one that hits you hard. It is and remains human work. The quest is finding a harmonious approach where you remain open at all times to learn in a positive way, without becoming your own enemy.
Your unique mission. The spiritual world recognizes the many talents of a medium and will never force you to do or not do something. What you do with mediumship depends largely on your life phase and the deeper mission of your soul. The communication flows from the journey the soul has made and will lead to enormous impact, as long as integral service remains central. It also requires staying true to the path. Unfortunately, I observe too often that mediums try to walk too many tracks simultaneously. In doing so, they shortchange themselves and undermine their ability to pass on observations purely.
A deeper spiritual and philosophical foundation is, in my view, fundamental to being able to do and pass on the work. Regardless of whether mediumship has been dominantly present since birth – a deeper understanding of spiritual values is necessary to progress.
Professional development: In this phase, you have chosen the path with heart and soul and also see it as a meaningful mission to practice mediumship. It’s no longer just about the individual’s spiritual journey, but about a service contribution to the world. Intensive training is necessary to practice the skills under different circumstances:
- Learning to deal with all types of recipients
- Finding a place for professional and personal objections
- Developing consistently pure transmission
Many on this path amuse themselves with speculative expressions and focus on superficial energetic peaks. True growth requires depth, consistency, and a solid spiritual foundation.
